Meet the First Speakers at ICOM Dubai 2025
Experts from across the globe are coming to the ICOM General Conference to exchange ideas, share experiences, and address key trends and challenges in the museum sector. The first line-up of speakers for ICOM Dubai 2025 has just been announced on the conference website. Featuring keynote speakers, presenters and panellists, you can now discover some of the many voices who will help shape the conversation at the world’s largest museum conference.

Among the very first confirmed speakers are Adib Dada, award-winning regenerative advisor and architect pioneering urban rewilding, Dr Christian Greco, renowned Egyptologist and Director of Museo Egizio in Turin, Dr Debra A. Reid, sustainability advocate and Curator at The Henry Ford, Mopa Khazindar, former Director General of Paris’ Institut du monde arabe and cultural advisor to Saudi Arabia, and Marjan Faraidooni, Chief of Education & Culture at Expo City Dubai, leading Terra, the centre for resilience and biodiversity. Together, these voices capture the global vision and expertise that will define ICOM Dubai 2025.

The ICOM Dubai 2025 edition of Museum International has arrived
We are pleased to announce the publication of the latest edition of Museum International entitled ‘Youth, Intangible Heritage and New Technologies in Museums’. This issue of Museum International is aligned with the sub-themes of the 2025 ICOM General Conference in Dubai: Intangible Heritage, Youth Power and New Technologies. The conference will take place from 11-17 November 2025 under the theme ‘The Future of Museums in Rapidly Changing Communities’.

This issue explores how museums worldwide are responding to several intersecting factors: growing youth engagement, the rapid evolution of digital tools and the fragile yet dynamic landscape of intangible heritage.

Discover the 25 shortlisted projects for the ICOM Award for Sustainable Development Practice in Museums

The International Council of Museums (ICOM) is pleased to reveal a selection of transformative museum initiatives that are defining sustainable development practices in cultural institutions worldwide. Launched in 2023 with an aim to inspire museums and museum professionals worldwide to begin or strengthen their efforts to integrate sustainable development into their practices, the ICOM Award for Sustainable Development Practice in Museums is the first global award that recognises innovative initiatives and exemplary practices that contribute meaningfully to sustainable development within the museum sector. 

From an impressive pool of 130 longlisted projects spanning 60 countries, the 25 shortlisted candidates represent the ICOM Award Jury’s selection of projects that reflect exemplary museum practices that contribute to the sustainable development of our societies. The shortlisted projects demonstrate innovation across the different project categories: People, Planet, Prosperity, Peace and Partnership (5Ps).
